Regular Season Round 9: Oberwart - Vienna 101-89

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Redwell Gunners Oberwart as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Redwell Gunners Oberwart defeated 5th ranked Vienna at home 101-89. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Vienna. The game was mostly controlled by Redwell Gunners Oberwart. Vienna managed to win third quarter 24-23. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Redwell Gunners Oberwart dominated down low during the game scoring 72 of its points in the paint compared to Vienna's 42. They outrebounded Vienna 39-27 including a 29-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a good game for American forward Jamari Traylor (203-92, college: Kansas) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 15 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). His fellow American import point guard Derek Jackson (185-91, college: Kent St., agency: Mansfield and Associates) contributed with 23 points and 5 assists for the winners. Serbian Predrag Miletic (193-84) answered with 37 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds and American point guard Anthony Clemmons (186-94, college: Iowa) added 21 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists in the effort for Vienna. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Wels and Gmunden. Vienna at the other side keeps the fifth place with five games lost. They share the position with 3 other teams. Vienna will play next round against Dukes trying to get back on the winning streak. Redwell Gunners Oberwart will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game.
