Regular Season Round 12: Neptunas - Lietkabelis 67-77

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Klaipeda. Third ranked Lietkabelis faced 4th ranked Neptunas. Guests from Panevezys (9-3) defeated host Neptunas (6-6) 77-67. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Neptunas. The game was mostly controlled by Lietkabelis. Neptunas managed to win second period 25-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 24-of-29 free shots (82.8 percent) during the game. 27 personal fouls committed by Neptunas helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was the former international guard Mindaugas Lukauskis (198-79) who scored 16 points and 6 rebounds. Guard Gintaras Leonavicius (194-83, agency: Players Group) chipped in 14 points. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Jimmy Baron (191-86, college: Rhode Island) who recorded 22 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and his fellow American import power forward Jerai Grant (203-89, college: Clemson) added 18 points and 7 rebounds respectively. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Lietkabelis moved-up to second place, which they share with Lietuvos rytas. Neptunas at the other side keeps the fourth position with six games lost. Lietkabelis is looking forward to face P.Zvaigzdes (#6) in Pasvalys in the next round. Neptunas will play at home against Dzukija and is hoping to prove to their fans that the loss was just an accident.
