Regular Season Round 14: Silute - Zalgiris II 92-84

Rather predictable result when sixth ranked Silute (9-5) defeated at home 10th ranked Zalgiris II (5-9) 92-84 on Saturday. Zalgiris II trailed by 19 points after 3 quarters before a 30-19 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 84-92 at the end of the game. Silute made 27-of-33 free shots (81.8 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was center Aurelijus Pukelis (205-94) who had a double-double by scoring 17 points, 14 rebounds and 5 assists. American guard Brian Wanamaker (185-89, college: Texas Wesleyan) chipped in 22 points and 7 assists. Wanamaker is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Silute players scored in double figures. Gytis Masiulis (206-98) produced a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 11 rebounds and power forward Laurynas Birutis (213-97) added 15 points and 8 rebounds respectively for the guests. Zalgiris II's coach Tomas Masiulis rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Silute moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Perlas-MRU. Loser Zalgiris II keeps the tenth position with nine games lost. They share it with Delikatesas. Silute will meet at home Petrochema (#13) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Zalgiris II will play against Ezerunas-Karys in Moletai and hope to secure a win.
