There was a minor upset when 5th ranked Sangalhos (2-5) lost on the road to eighth ranked Sanjoanense (2-5) 59-52 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 5 points after three quarters before their 15-3 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Sanjoanense dominated on the defensive end, holding Sangalhos to just 3 points in fourth quarter. It was a very good performance for forward Pedro Azevedo (193-81) who helped to win the game recording 24 points. Guard Silvio Rodrigues (184-92) contributed with 14 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Guard Andre Duarte (178-81) answered with 14 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and swingman Emanuel Silva (188-79) added 11 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Sangalhos. Four Sangalhos players scored in double figures. Sanjoanense moved-up to sixth place in Group North, which they share with Sangalhos and Guifoes. Sangalhos lost fourth consecutive game. Sanjoanense will face higher ranked Esgueira / Oli (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
