Regular Season Round 10: Istanbulspor - Turk Telekom 99-78
Date: November 19, 2016
Rather predictable result when fourth ranked Istanbulspor (8-2) rolled over at home 6th ranked Turk Telekom (6-4) 99-78 on Saturday. They outrebounded Turk Telekom 46-31 including a 36-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Istanbulspor looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. Quite impressive performance for American Brandon Brown (201-85, college: CS San Bernar.) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 20 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists. The other American import guard Walter Lemon Jr. (190-92, college: Bradley) contributed with 22 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Brown is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. American point guard Tywain McKee (188-86, college: Coppin St.) replied with 14 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals and Ahmet Cantitiz (193-92) added 16 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Turk Telekom. Four Turk Telekom players scored in double figures. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Istanbulspor moved-up to third place, which they share with Afyon. Loser Turk Telekom dropped to the fifth position with four games lost. Istanbulspor will face Final Genclik (#17) in Bursa in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Turk Telekom will play at home against Pertevniyal (#16) and hope to win that game and get promotion back to the BSL just one year after relegation.
