Regular Season Round 11: Hamburg - Chemnitz 63-79

Very expected game when 11th ranked Hamburg (4-7) lost at home to fifth ranked Chemnitz (7-4) 79-63 on Saturday. Chemnitz dominated down low during the game scoring 44 of its points in the paint compared to Hamburg's 22 and made 20-of-11 free shots (181.8 percent) during the game. American point guard Virgil Matthews (190-83, college: Montana) orchestrated the victory by scoring 16 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists. His fellow American import power forward Joe Lawson (201-92, college: Indianapolis, agency: Interperformances) contributed with 22 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Lawson is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Chemnitz players scored in double figures. Point guard Anthony Canty (183-91, agency: Octagon Europe) answered with 26 points and American power forward Robert Ferguson (203-85, college: St.Joseph's) added 6 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Hamburg. Hamburg's coach Hamed Attarbashi let to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Chemnitz moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Heidelberg and Hanau. Hamburg lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the tenth position with seven games lost. Chemnitz will face Gladiators (#8) in Trier in the next round. Hamburg will play on the road against Uni Baskets in Paderborn and hope to win that game.
