Regular Season Round 10: Tuebingen II - Mainz 92-94

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both ninth ranked Mainz and 11th ranked Tuebingen II had identical 3-6 record. But Tuebingen II was not able to use a home court advantage and was edged by the opponent from Mainz 94-92 on Saturday night. Mainz shot 60.7 percent from the field. Strangely Tuebingen II outrebounded Mainz 33-21 including a 14-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. Quite impressive performance for Indian-American point guard Anish Sharda (188-82, college: St.Mary's, KS) who helped to win the game recording 20 points and 5 assists. Guard Christian Zander (188-85) contributed with 18 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Center Jan Georg (202-97) replied with 18 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and point guard Tim Deschner (177-97) added 15 points and 7 assists in the effort for Tuebingen II. Five Mainz and four Tuebingen II players scored in double figures. Tuebingen II's coach Claus Sieghoertner rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Mainz have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain ninth position in South-West with 4-6 record. Loser Tuebingen II dropped to the tenth place with seven games lost. Mainz will face higher ranked Limburg (#3) at home in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Tuebingen II will play against Fellbach (#7) and hope to win that game.
