Regular Season Round 7: Lusitania - Electrico FC 62-75

There was a small surprise in Angra where eleventh ranked Electrico FC (2-5) defeated 9th ranked Lusitania (2-5) 75-62 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 1-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 75-62. Electrico FC forced 19 Lusitania turnovers. It was a great evening for international point guard Diogo Ventura (193-94, agency: Dynamics Global Management) who led his team to a victory scoring 21 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. Power forward Joao Torrie (200-91, agency: Interperformances) helped adding 17 points and 9 rebounds. Four Electrico FC players scored in double figures. At the losing side American center Chris Matagrano (206-90, college: New Hampshire) responded with 28 points and 8 rebounds (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field) and the other American import forward Garrius Holloman (198-89, college: Beth.-Cookman) scored 9 points and 8 rebounds. Electrico FC moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Lusitania and Maia Basket. Electrico FC will meet higher ranked CAB Madeira (#4) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Lusitania will play against Oliveirense (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
