Regular Season Round 6: Beroe - Rilski 88-72

Very important is a road loss of second ranked Rilski (4-2) against fourth ranked Beroe (4-1) on Saturday night. Visiting Rilski was defeated by Beroe in Stara Zagora 88-72. It was a key game for the second position in the league. Beroe forced 19 Rilski turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. The best player for the winners was American guard Shane Gibson (188-90, college: Sacred Heart) who scored 20 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals. The former international Tihomir Zhelev (193-90) chipped in 20 points and 8 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was American point guard Kelvin Parker (184-82, college: NW Missouri St.) who recorded 14 points, 6 assists and 4 steals and Croatian power forward Nenad Delic (210-84) added 14 points and 6 rebounds respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Rilski's coach Ludmil Hadjisotirov tested eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Beroe have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place. Rilski at the other side dropped to the third position with two games lost. Beroe will meet league's leader Lukoil Acad. in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Rilski will have a break next round.
