Regular Season Round 9: Itzehoe - Rostock 104-100
Date: November 19, 2016
Rather predictable result when fifth ranked Itzehoe (6-3) defeated at home 7th ranked Rostock (4-5) 104-100 on Saturday. Itzehoe looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Itzehoe made 7 blocks. Rostock was plagued by 34 personal fouls down the stretch. Forward Frederik Henningsen (198-88) stepped up and scored 24 points for the winners and naturalized Greek guard Kosta Karamatskos (194-86) chipped in 14 points and 4 assists. Itzehoe's coach Patrick Elzie used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. The best for the losing side was naturalized American Andres Murillo (201-90, college: Biola, CA, agency: Octagon Europe) with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 13 rebounds and American swingman Jovonni Shuler (195-87, college: Savannah St.) scored 23 points and 7 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Itzehoe moved-up to second place in North, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Rostock keeps the seventh position with five games lost. Itzehoe will face Schalke (#7) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Rostock will play against RSV Eintracht and hope to win that game.
