Regular Season Round 9: Steaua CSM - Targu Mures 80-62

Not a big story in a game in Bucuresti where 8th ranked Targu Mures (3-5) were defeated by second ranked Steaua CSM (7-1) 80-62. The game was mostly controlled by Steaua CSM. Targu Mures was better in fourth quarter 15-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Steaua CSM dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Targu Mures' 24. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. American power forward Dave Dudzinski (206-92, college: Holy Cross, agency: Pro Partner Sports Management) nailed a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 rebounds for the winning side and Serbian Nikola Jevtovic (208-89) accounted for 18 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Steaua CSM's coach Vasile Fometescu used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Montenegrin point guard Goran Martinic (187-87) came up with 18 points and 6 assists and center Szabolcs Santa (209-87) added 14 points and 8 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) respectively for Targu Mures in the defeat. Steaua CSM keeps a position of league leader, which they share with UBT Cluj Napoca. Targu Mures at the other side keep the eighth place with five games lost. Steaua CSM will play against Pitesti (#6) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Targu Mures will have a break next round.
