Regular Season Round 9: Goettingen - Neuss 83-75

Date: November 20, 2016
The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of TG Neuss (7-1) on the court of fourth ranked Goettingen on Sunday night. Visitors were defeated by Goettingen 83-75. It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of TG Neuss. It was a key game for the second position in North. The hosts trailed by 8 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 8-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 83-75. It was a good game for American center Verdine Warner (196-92, college: Shaw) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 17 rebounds (on 12-of-15 shooting from the field). Swingman Merle Wiehl (182-98) contributed with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Four Goettingen players scored in double figures. Anne Storck (180-88) answered with 23 points and 8 rebounds and American guard Dara Taylor (173-91, college: Penn St.) added 17 points and 6 assists in the effort for TG Neuss. TG Neuss' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Goettingen have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to second place in North, which they share with Neuss. Goettingen is looking forward to face Osnabruecker (#9) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. TG Neuss will play against the league's leader Wolfpack Wolfenbuettel (#1) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
