Regular Season Round 7: Galatasaray - Besiktas 84-78

Another exciting game was a derby match between two teams from Istanbul: Galatasaray (#7) and Besiktas (#4). Galatasaray (5-2) won against visiting Besiktas (5-2) 84-78. Galatasaray made 20-of-22 charity shots (90.9 percent) during the game. Strangely Besiktas outrebounded Galatasaray 39-27 including a 19-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three nailing 14 long-distance shots on high 53.8 percentage. Galatasaray brought some defensive toughness making 8 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of American-Czech swingman Blake Schilb (201-83, college: Loyola, IL) who helped to win the game recording 19 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!). International Sinan Guler (192-83, college: Carroll, MT, agency: 1x1 Sports) contributed with 8 points and 12 assists for the winners. American forward Earl Clark (208-88, college: Louisville) answered with 21 points and 5 rebounds and Serbian center Vladimir Stimac (210-87, agency: Interperformances) added 13 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Besiktas. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Galatasaray moved-up to fourth place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Besiktas. Galatasaray will play against bottom-ranked TED Kolejliler (#16) in Ankara in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Besiktas will play at home against Demir IBB (#9) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
