Regular Season Round 15: Zalgiris II - Ezerunas-Karys 65-73

Bottom-ranked Ezerunas-Karys managed to get a second victory, breaking the series of thirteen consecutive losses on Friday night. This time they won against tenth-ranked Zalgiris II in Kaunas 73-65. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Zalgiris II won third quarter 12-8. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Zalgiris II 36-25 including 25 on the defensive glass. It was a great evening for center Pranas Skurdauskas (208-88, agency: Interperformances) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds. Forward Raimundas Ambrulaitis (200-82) helped adding 6 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. The best for the losing side was power forward Laurynas Birutis (213-97) with 19 points (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) and swingman Martynas Varnas (196-97) scored 9 points. Zalgiris II's coach Tomas Masiulis rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Ezerunas-Karys maintains fourteenth place with 2-13 record. Loser Zalgiris II keeps the tenth position with ten games lost. Ezerunas-Karys will meet league's leader Suduva-Mantinga in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Zalgiris II will have a break next round.
