Regular Season Round 11: Bayreuth - Ludwigsburg 87-70

There was no surprise when 7th ranked EnBW Ludwigsburg (6-6) was defeated on the road by third ranked BBC Bayreuth (10-1) 87-70. They made 24-of-31 charity shots (77.4 percent) during the game. BBC Bayreuth forced 19 EnBW Ludwigsburg turnovers. EnBW Ludwigsburg was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. It was an exceptional evening for American guard Joseph Lewis (188-92, college: Louisville) who led the winners and scored 19 points and 4 assists. Egyptian forward Assem Marei (206-92, college: Minn.St.-Mankato) accounted for 14 points and 5 rebounds for the winning side. American power forward Jack Cooley (206-91, college: Notre Dame, agency: Pensack Sports) came up with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds and the other American import point guard Clifford Hammonds (191-85, college: Clemson) added 11 points and 7 assists respectively for EnBW Ludwigsburg in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. EnBW Ludwigsburg's coach rotated twelve players seeing no chance for a win. BBC Bayreuth have an impressive series of ten victories in a row. They maintain third place with 10-1 record behind leader Brose Bask. EnBW Ludwigsburg at the other side keeps the seventh position with six games lost. They share it with Giessen 46ers and EWE Baskets. BBC Bayreuth will play against Bayern Muenchen (#4) on the road in the next round. EnBW Ludwigsburg will play against Phoenix Hagen and hopes to get back on the winning track.
