Regular Season Round 11: Anadolu Univ. - Elazig 51-74

Bottom-ranked Anadolu Univ. is still unable to win any game. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their 11th consecutive match to tenth ranked Elazig (6-5) 74-51 on Saturday evening. Elazig dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Anadolu Univ.'s 28. Elazig forced 24 Anadolu Univ. turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Anadolu Univ.'s players. It was an exceptional evening for American power forward Sharon Houston (191-88, college: IU Northwest) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 12 rebounds. Sehernaz Cidal (183-95) accounted for 16 points for the winning side. Four Elazig players scored in double figures. Elazig's coach felt very confident using entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Point guard Tugba Gonen (170-90) came up with 15 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists and center Ozge Bilgin (-94) added 8 points and 14 rebounds respectively for Anadolu Univ. in the defeat. Elazig moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Urla BLD and TED Ankara. Anadolu Univ. lost their eleventh game in a row. They still close the standings with 11 games lost. They share the position with 55 Genclik. Elazig will meet at home higher ranked Ormanspor (#4) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Anadolu Univ. will play against Cankaya (#6) in Ankara and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
