Regular Season Round 6: Avangard - Interkhim 70-63

The biggest surprise took place in Kyiv where host Avangard (7-1) beat league's leader Interkhim (7-1) 70-63 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of Interkhim. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Avangard forced 25 Interkhim turnovers and outrebounded them 47-33 including a 20-9 advantage in offensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Avangard made 7 blocks. The best player for the winners was international center Olga Yatskovets (183-97) who had a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds. The former international guard Ievgeniia Spitkovska (174-88, agency: LBM Management) chipped in 13 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals. Four Avangard players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Natalia Kolotovska (173-90) who recorded 16 points and 8 assists and swingman Svitlana Kolibabchuk (189-87) added 15 points respectively. Avangard have an impressive six-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with defeated Interkhim. Interkhim will play next round against Suzirja trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Avangard will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game.
