Regular Season Round 8: Maia Basket - Vitoria SC 74-94

Date: November 26, 2016
Very expected game when 10th ranked Maia Basket (2-6) was smashed at home by sixth ranked Vitoria SC (5-3) 94-74 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Vitoria SC. Maia Basket was better in second period 26-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Maia Basket 36-25 including 27 on the defensive glass. American forward Victor Moses (201-89, college: Georgetown, KY) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). The other American import guard Andrew Ferry (190-90, college: Cornell) contributed with 18 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Five Vitoria SC players scored in double figures. The former international forward Nuno Marcal (205-75) replied with 22 points and 8 rebounds and American guard Antonio Robinson (193-93, college: E.Carolina) added 22 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Maia Basket. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Vitoria SC have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Illiabum and Oliveirense. Loser Maia Basket keeps the tenth position with six games lost. Vitoria SC will face Ovarense (#9) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Maia Basket will play against Galitos-Barreiro and hope to win that game.
