Rather predictable result when third ranked Esgueira / Oli (5-3) defeated at home 6th ranked Sanjoanense (2-6) 87-72 on Saturday. Esgueira / Oli shot 60.4 percent from the field. They shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 52.0 percentage. Worth to mention a great performance of point guard Pedro Valente (175-85) who helped to win the game recording 20 points and guard Samuel Loio (180-89) who added 13 points and 7 assists during the contest. Forward Pedro Azevedo (193-81) responded with 20 points and guard Silvio Rodrigues (184-92) scored 16 points and 4 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Esgueira / Oli maintains third position in Group North with 5-3 record behind leader Barreirense. Newly promoted Sanjoanense dropped to the seventh place with six games lost. Esgueira / Oli will face Ginasio (#5) in Figueira da Foz in the next round. Sanjoanense will play at home against Guifoes and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
