Regular Season Round 8: Spartak - Crvena Zvezda 48-80

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when one of their biggest challengers Spartak (5-3) was smashed by fifth ranked Crvena Zvezda (5-3) in Subotica 80-48. The game without a history. Crvena Zvezda led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Spartak's 22. Crvena Zvezda forced 21 Spartak turnovers and outrebounded them 43-14 including a 17-1 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was Snezana Bogicevic (177-97) who scored 24 points and 5 steals. Mina Djordjevic (186-99, agency: BeoBasket) chipped in 8 points, 17 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals. Coach Dragan Vukovic's team controlled all game and the coach could let to play 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Bosnian guard Rada Vidovic (177-79) produced 10 points and power forward Natasa Pavlov (179-93) added 9 points respectively for the hosts. Crvena Zvezda moved-up to third place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Spartak. Crvena Zvezda's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Beograd Partizan.
