Regular Season Round 6: Tavriyska Zirka - DVUFK 78-82

DVUFK can celebrate finally their first win this season after eight consecutive losses. The victory is especially important as it came on the road game in Kherson, where they defeated Tavriyska Zivka (0-6) 82-78 on Saturday. Tavriyska Zivka was trailing by 4 points at halftime but managed to get 6-point lead after three quarters before a 20-10 charge of DVUFK, which allowed them to win the game. Forward Elizaveta Shmakova (173-99) had a double-double by scoring 16 points and 15 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and swingman Oksana Fastova (173-99) chipped in 23 points and 5 assists during the contest. DVUFK's coach Oleksandr Cherednichenko used entire bench in such tough game. The best for the losing side was center Anastasiya Andriyets (186-91) with a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 15 rebounds and forward Svetlana Maliar (180-88) produced a double-double by scoring 14 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. DVUFK (1-8) left bottom position moving up to eighth place. It was Tavriyska Zivka's sixth loss in a row. They still close the standings with six games lost. DVUFK will meet higher ranked Tim-Scuf (#3) in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Tavriyska Zivka will play against HAI (#7) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
