There was no surprise when 6th ranked Friendsfactory Germering (4-5) was defeated at home by third ranked Ladybaskets Wuerzburg (6-3) 79-72 on Sunday. Ladybaskets Wuerzburg forced 19 Friendsfactory Germering turnovers. Friendsfactory Germering was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Canadian guard Stephanie Kleysen (178, college: Winnipeg) had a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and center Laura Zdravevska (185-97) chipped in 20 points (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) during the contest. At the losing side the former international forward Magdalena von Geyr (180-84) responded with 19 points and 9 rebounds and Jella Molz (172-96) scored 8 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals. Four Friendsfactory Germering players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Ladybaskets Wuerzburg have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place in South, which they share with Bamberg. Loser Friendsfactory Germering dropped to the seventh position with five games lost. Ladybaskets Wuerzburg will face Wasserburg II (#11) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Friendsfactory Germering will play against Speyer / Schifferstadt (#6) in Dudenhofen and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
