The game between fourth ranked Benfica (5-2) and 8th ranked Lousada (3-4) in Lisboa on Sunday ended with biggest points difference. Benfica outscored guests from Lousada 96-70. The game was mostly controlled by Benfica. Lousada was better in second period 24-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Benfica forced 23 Lousada turnovers and outrebounded them 38-21 including 23 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. It was a very good performance for international Dora Duarte (174-86) who helped to win the game recording 37 points (!!!). International point guard Ines Viana (166-94) contributed with a triple-double by scoring 12 points, 12 rebounds, 11 assists and 6 steals for the winners. Benfica's coach Andre Cardoso felt very confident using 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Silvia Fortunato (179-91) answered with 12 points and 8 rebounds and Spanish Arantxa Mallou (181-91) added 14 points and 6 assists in the effort for Lousada. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Benfica have a solid series of four victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with 3 other teams. Lousada lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the ninth place with four games lost. Benfica will face Academico FC (#10) in Porto in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Lousada will play on the road against the league's leader GDESSA in Barreiro and hope to win that game.
