Regular Season Round 6: Tavriyska Zirka - Tim-Scuf 61-107

Bottom-ranked Tavriyska Zivka (0-6) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 107-61 loss to third ranked Tim-Scuf (6-1) in Kherson. It looked good early as Tavriyska Zivka took a 4-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Tim-Scuf had a 27-16 second period charge getting the lead and Tavriyska Zivka was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 61-107. Tim-Scuf dominated down low during the game scoring 86 of its points in the paint compared to Tavriyska Zivka's 20 and made 18-of-22 charity shots (81.8 percent) during the game. Tim-Scuf forced 32 Tavriyska Zivka turnovers and outrebounded them 39-28 including a 31-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Tim-Scuf players were unselfish on offense dishing 31 assists. They brought some defensive toughness making 8 blocks. International center Miriam Uro-Nile (188-94, agency: LBM Management) notched a double-double by scoring 31 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists and 7 steals to lead the effort and international forward Darya Zavidna (185-93) supported her with 31 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Tim-Scuf players scored in double figures. Tim-Scuf's coach Maryna Tkachenko felt very confident using 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even a double-double of 18 points and 11 rebounds by forward Svetlana Maliar (180-88) did not help to save the game for Tavriyska Zivka. Swingman Kateryna Tykhonova (176-97) added 16 points, 8 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 steals. Tim-Scuf have a solid four-game winning streak. Newly promoted Tim-Scuf maintains third position with 6-1 record behind leader Avangard. Tavriyska Zivka at the other side still closes the standings with six games lost. Tim-Scuf's next round opponent will be DVUFK (#8) in Dnepropetrovsk where they are favorite. Tavriyska Zivka will play at home against HAI and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
