Regular Season Round 10: Pitesti - Steaua CSM 68-77

Date: November 28, 2016
The game in Pitesti was also quite interesting. Second ranked Steaua CSM (8-1) played at the court of 5th ranked Pitesti (5-4). Steaua CSM managed to secure a 9-point victory 77-68 on Monday. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Pitesti. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Pitesti won third quarter 22-20. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Steaua CSM forced 19 Pitesti turnovers. Serbian forward Nikola Malesevic (202-89, college: Rhode Island, agency: BeoExcell) notched 24 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals to lead the effort and American guard Cameron Long (193-88, college: George Mason, agency: Inception Sports) supported him with 18 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals. Even a double-double of 18 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists by DR Congolese-Canadian guard Myck Kabongo (191-93, college: Texas) did not help to save the game for Pitesti. Serbian center Alexandar Mladenovic (207-84, agency: BeoExcell) added 18 points and 6 rebounds for lost side. Steaua CSM have a solid three-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with UBT Cluj Napoca. Loser Pitesti keeps the fifth place with four games lost. Steaua CSM will meet at home Craiova (#8) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Pitesti will play against Targu Mures and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
