Everything went according to plan when seventh ranked Mersin Gelisim (8-4) beat on the road 18th ranked Nevsehir Uni (1-11) 78-62 on Wednesday. They outrebounded Nevsehir Uni 38-25 including 26 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of American center Nadia Parker (191-87, college: USC) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 31 points, 18 rebounds and 5 assists and point guard Yaren Uslular (167-97) who added 11 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists during the contest. Parker is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Mersin Gelisim players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was Jamaican-American swingman Shenneika Smith (185-89, college: St.John's) with 21 points and 9 rebounds and Bahar Gokceri (-86) scored 11 points. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Mersin Gelisim maintains seventh position with 8-4 record, which they share with Mersin Univ. Nevsehir Uni lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the eighteenth place with 11 games lost. Mersin Gelisim will have a break next round. Nevsehir Uni will play on the road against Orduspor (#12) and hope to win that game.
