There was a surprise result when tenth ranked Vechta-2 (3-5) edged on the road higher ranked ALBA Berlin II (3-5) 73-70 on Saturday. They outrebounded ALBA Berlin II 48-27 including a 19-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a good game for American forward Kazembe Abif (201-92, college: Drexel) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 32 points and 14 rebounds. Croatian center Neven Zeravica (205-88, college: W.Virg.Wesl.) contributed with 10 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Abif is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Jacob Knauf (210-97) replied with 11 points and 6 rebounds and Badu Buck (194-99) added 13 points in the effort for ALBA Berlin II. Four ALBA Berlin II players scored in double figures. ALBA Berlin II's coach Patrick Femerling tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Vechta-2 moved-up to fifth place in North, which they share with Weser Bsk/BTS and ALBA Berlin II. ALBA Berlin II lost third consecutive game. Vechta-2 will face higher ranked Aschersleben (#4) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. ALBA Berlin II will play against Hannover Korb. and hope to win that game.
