Regular Season Round 12: EWE Baskets - Telekom Bsk 91-77

We should mention about the upset which took place in Oldenburg, where higher ranked Telekom Baskets (7-5) lost to ninth ranked EWE Baskets (7-6) in a road game 77-91. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Telekom Baskets. EWE Baskets made 20-of-26 charity shots (76.9 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Telekom Baskets 36-24 including a 27-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. EWE Baskets players were unselfish on offense dishing 28 assists comparing to just 14 passes made by Telekom Baskets' players. The game was dominated by American players. The winners were led by center Brian Qvale (210-88, college: Montana) who scored that evening 33 points (!!!) (on 13-of-14 shooting from the field) and guard Chris Kramer (191-88, college: Purdue) supported him with 12 points, 6 rebounds and 13 assists. Even 27 points by point guard Josh Mayo (181-87, college: Ill.-Chicago, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) did not help to save the game for Telekom Baskets. Swingman Ryan Thompson (198-89, college: Rider, agency: BeoBasket) added 15 points and 4 assists. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. EWE Baskets moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Giessen 46ers. Telekom Baskets at the other side keep the fifth position with five games lost. EWE Baskets' next round opponent will be s Oliver Baskets (#13) in Wuerzburg where they are favorite. Telekom Baskets will play at home against SC Rasta Vechta (#17) and hope to win that game.
