Regular Season Round 18: Zalgiris II - Vytis 89-69

The game in Kaunas supposed to be also quite interesting. 7th ranked Vytis (9-9) played at the court of eighth ranked Zalgiris II (10-10). Zalgiris II did not have too big problems and got a relatively easy victory 89-69 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Zalgiris II. Vytis managed to win second period 16-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Zalgiris II forced 19 Vytis turnovers and outrebounded them 32-21 including 22 on the defensive glass. It was a great shooting night for Zalgiris II especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.9 percentage. Swingman Martynas Varnas (196-97) scored 16 points to lead the charge for the winners and guard Kristupas Zemaitis (192-96) chipped in 14 points during the contest. Four Zalgiris II players scored in double figures. Zalgiris II's coach Tomas Masiulis used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was point guard Tadas Sebeziovas (185-85) with 19 points and guard Paulius Beliavicius (194-88) scored 13 points. Zalgiris II have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to sixth place. Loser Vytis dropped to the eighth position with nine games lost. They share it with KTU. Zalgiris II will meet league's leader Rasai in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Vytis will play against Palanga (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
