Regular Season Round 12: Zwickau - Vilsbiburg 75-105

Everything went according to plan when fifth ranked Vilsbiburg (7-4) outplayed on the road 9th ranked Zwickau (4-7) 105-75 on Saturday. Vilsbiburg forced 29 Zwickau turnovers. Strangely Zwickau outrebounded Vilsbiburg 43-31 including 32 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Zwickau was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for American-Czech point guard John Boyer (185-88, college: Buffalo, agency: Dynamics Global Management) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 7 rebounds, 13 assists and 8 steals. American swingman Kendall Timmons (195-90, college: Tulane) contributed with 16 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Boyer is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Vilsbiburg players scored in double figures. Coach Holger Prote's team controlled all game and the coach could let to play 10 players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Center Mario Nagler (203-87) replied with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 13 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) and guard Hendrik Bellscheidt (193-90) added 14 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists in the effort for Zwickau. Vilsbiburg have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain fifth position in South-East with 7-4 record. Loser Zwickau keeps the ninth place with seven games lost. Vilsbiburg will face higher ranked TSV Troester (#4) in Breitenguessbach in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Zwickau will play on the road against Ansbach (#12) and hope to win that game.
