Regular Season Round 12: Jena II - Coburg 68-87

Regionalliga top team - Coburg (9-1) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed seventh ranked Jena II (6-5) 87-68. They outrebounded Jena II 44-28 including a 35-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Coburg players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. 29 personal fouls committed by Jena II helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was forward Fabian Franke (198-88) who scored 30 points and 9 rebounds. Guard Steffen Walde (190-92) chipped in 15 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was American Vincent Garrett (198-91, college: Green Bay) who recorded 20 points and 5 rebounds and Marco Rahn (201-98) added 9 points and 6 rebounds respectively. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Coburg have an impressive eight-game winning streak. Newly promoted Coburg maintains first position in South-East with 9-1 record. Jena II at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the sixth place with five games lost. Coburg's next round opponent will be Bayreuth 2 (#14) at home which should be an easy win for them. Jena II will play against the league's second-placed Bad Aibling (#2) and hope to win that game.
