Date: December 4, 2016
The game between closely ranked teams ended with 7th ranked Friendsfactory Germering's (4-6) road loss to sixth ranked Speyer / Schifferstadt (5-4) 64-73. It looked good early as Friendsfactory Germering took a 1-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Speyer / Schifferstadt had a 16-8 second period charge getting the lead and Friendsfactory Germering was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 64-73. It was a great shooting night for Speyer / Schifferstadt especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 53.3 percentage. It was an exceptional evening for forward Uta Gelbke (177-86) who led the winners and scored 12 points and 7 assists. American guard Jennifer Mocanu (172-90) accounted for 13 points for the winning side. Four Speyer / Schifferstadt players scored in double figures. Speyer / Schifferstadt's coach Harald Roth allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Emily Bessoir (192-1) came up with 28 points and 7 rebounds and the former international forward Jezabel Ohanian (170-77) added 14 points and 5 rebounds respectively for Friendsfactory Germering in the defeat. Speyer / Schifferstadt have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain sixth place in South with 5-4 record. Friendsfactory Germering lost third consecutive game. They keep the seventh position with six games lost. Speyer / Schifferstadt's next round opponent will be Wasserburg II (#11) at home which should be theoretically an easy game. Friendsfactory Germering will play against Keltern II (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
