Rather expected game in Panevezys where 5th ranked Vytautas (6-8) was defeated by second ranked Lietkabelis (11-3) 71-66 on Sunday. Vytautas was trailing by 2 points at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 20-14 charge of Lietkabelis, which allowed them to win the game. They dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Vytautas' 28. Lietkabelis looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was the former international center Ksistof Lavrinovic (209-79) who scored 18 points. Australian swingman Ben Madgen (193-85, college: Augusta) chipped in 8 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. The former international guard Tomas Delininkaitis (190-82) produced 19 points and Vytenis Cizauskas (187-92) added 12 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Lietkabelis have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 11-3 record having just two points less than leader Zalgiris. Loser Vytautas keeps the fifth place with eight games lost. They share the position with P.Zvaigzdes and Juventus. Lietkabelis will meet Dzukija (#8) in the next round where they are favorite. Vytautas will play against P.Zvaigzdes and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
