Very important is a road loss of second ranked Yakin Dogu BGD (4-2) against fourteenth ranked Girne Univ. (1-5) on Sunday night. Visiting Yakin Dogu BGD was defeated by Girne Univ. in a tough game in Lefkosa 57-66. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Yakin Dogu BGD. It was a good game for Bosnian-Slovenian power forward Marica Gajic (187-95) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds. Serbian forward Adrijana Knezevic (183-87, agency: Regeneracom Sports) contributed with 16 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Four Girne Univ. players scored in double figures. American-Hungarian point guard Courtney Vandersloot (173-89, college: Gonzaga) replied with 20 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and the former international center Quanitra Hollingsworth (196-88, college: VCU) added 12 points and 11 rebounds in the effort for Yakin Dogu BGD. Girne Univ. left bottom position moving up to twelfth place, which they share with Samsun and Hatay. Yakin Dogu BGD at the other side dropped to the third position with two games lost. They share it with Istanbul Univ. and Abdullah Gul. Girne Univ. will play against higher ranked Istanbul Uni (#4) in Istanbul in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Yakin Dogu BGD will play at home against Botas and hopes to get back on the winning track.
