There was no surprise when 15th ranked Istanbulgucu (4-9) was defeated at home by second ranked Edremit (11-2) 65-48 on Sunday. Edremit forced 20 Istanbulgucu turnovers and outrebounded them 48-28 including a 14-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. Canadian guard Nirra Fields (175-93, college: UCLA) fired 26 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. The former international Saynur Tozlu (189-86) chipped in 8 points and 13 rebounds. Point guard Ilayda Tokmak (170-93) produced 11 points and Sevda Tuncluer added 8 points and 6 rebounds respectively for lost side. Istanbulgucu's coach tested ten players seeing no chance for a win. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Edremit. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Bornova. Istanbulgucu lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the fifteenth place with nine games lost. Edremit will face Ferko Ilgaz (#10) in Kastamonu in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Istanbulgucu will play on the road against Elazig (#11) and hope to win that game.
