Regular Season Round 13: Mersin Gelisim - Urla BLD 79-77

No shocking result in a game when seventh ranked Mersin Gelisim (9-4) edged at home 13th ranked Urla BLD (6-7) 79-77 on Sunday. However just two-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Mersin Gelisim looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. American center Nadia Parker (191-87, college: USC) fired a double-double by scoring 25 points, 15 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. The former international Fahriye Bayraktar (185-95) chipped in 20 points and 6 rebounds. Parker is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Mersin Gelisim players scored in double figures. Ukrainian center Olena Staschuk (192-85) produced a double-double by scoring 29 points and 14 rebounds and Helin Boybeyi (-95) added 9 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists respectively for lost side. The victory was the third consecutive win for Mersin Gelisim. They moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Mersin Univ. Loser Urla BLD dropped to the twelfth position with seven games lost. Mersin Gelisim will face 55 Genclik (#19) in Samsun in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Urla BLD will play at home against Orduspor (#12) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
