Regular Season Round 11: Keltern II - Weiterstadt 32-65

Everything went according to plan when fifth ranked Weiterstadt (6-4) outleveled on the road 9th ranked Keltern II (2-8) 65-32. It looked good early as Keltern II took a 3-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Weiterstadt had a 18-13 second period charge getting the lead and Keltern II was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 32-65. Weiterstadt dominated on the defensive end, holding Keltern II to just 4 points in third quarter and to 10 points in second half. Weiterstadt held Keltern II to an opponent 19.7 percent shooting from the field compared to 40.6 percent accuracy of the winners. It was an exceptional evening for forward Ana-Maria Kammer (180-86) who led the winners and scored 14 points and 6 rebounds. Power forward Aline Stiller (184-94) accounted for 15 points and 5 rebounds for the winning side. Guard Alina Fody (174-90) came up with 10 points and 9 rebounds and point guard Vera Genten (172-97) added 2 points and 10 rebounds respectively for Keltern II in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Weiterstadt moved-up to fourth place in South, which they share with Wuerzburg. Keltern II lost fourth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the ninth position with eight games lost. Weiterstadt's next round opponent will be league's second-placed Don Bosco Bamberg on the road and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Keltern II will play against Friendsfactory Germering (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
