Regular Season Round 9: Galatasaray - Usak 83-73

Very expected game in Istanbul where 14th ranked Usak Sportlif (2-7) was defeated by fourth ranked Galatasaray (7-2) 83-73 on Sunday. It was a great shooting night for Galatasaray especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.6 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. The former international swingman Emir Preldzic (206-87, agency: BeoBasket) stepped up and scored 24 points for the winners and Serbian forward Vladimir Micov (201-85, agency: BeoBasket) chipped in 18 points and 5 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Galatasaray's coach Ergin Ataman allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. The best for the losing side was Lithuanian power forward Evaldas Kairys (207-90) with 25 points and 9 rebounds (perfect from the field making all eleven shots !!!) and American point guard Mark Lyons (185-89, college: Arizona, agency: Higher Vision Sports) scored 13 points and 7 assists. Galatasaray have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Fenerbahce and Besiktas. Usak Sportlif lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the fourteenth position with seven games lost. Galatasaray's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Istanbul to the arena Istanbul BBSK.
