Regular Season Round 6: Galatasaray - Istanbul Univ. 76-70

The most interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Istanbul: Galatasaray (#3) and Istanbul Uni (#4). Galatasaray (5-1) won against visiting Istanbul Uni (4-2) 76-70. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Istanbul Uni. The best player for the winners was American guard Yvonne Anderson (170-90, college: Texas, agency: Two Points) who scored 22 points and 5 assists (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). The other American import point guard Moriah Jefferson (170-94, college: Connecticut) chipped in 19 points. Four Galatasaray players scored in double figures. Galatasaray's coach Marina Maljkovic used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was Bosnian-Serbian guard Sasa Cado (178-89) who recorded 18 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals and Latvian power forward Aija Putnina (191-88, agency: Josep and Nicolas) added 17 points and 8 rebounds respectively. Galatasaray moved-up to second place. Istanbul Uni at the other side dropped to the third position with two games lost. They share it with Abdullah Gul and Yakin Dogu BGD. Galatasaray are looking forward to face bottom-ranked Samsun (#14) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Istanbul Uni will play against Girne Univ. (#13) and is hoping to prove to their fans that the loss was just an accident.
