Regular Season Round 11: Wuerzburg - Wasserburg II 56-64

Very important is a home loss of third ranked Ladybaskets Wuerzburg (6-4) against eleventh ranked Wasserburg II (2-8) on Sunday night. Host Ladybaskets Wuerzburg was defeated by Wasserburg II in a tough game in Wuerzburg 56-64. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Ladybaskets Wuerzburg. It looked good early as Ladybaskets Wuerzburg took a 8-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Wasserburg II had a 25-12 second period charge getting the lead and Ladybaskets Wuerzburg was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 56-64. It was an exceptional evening for Canadian guard Brittany Moore (168-89) who led the winners and scored 27 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. American forward Liz Wood (178-93, college: Maine) accounted for 16 points and 8 rebounds for the winning side. Canadian guard Stephanie Kleysen (178, college: Winnipeg) came up with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 15 rebounds and center Laura Zdravevska (185-97) added 13 points, 7 rebounds and 4 blocks respectively for Ladybaskets Wuerzburg in the defeat. Ladybaskets Wuerzburg's coach tested eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Wasserburg II moved-up to ninth place in South, which they share with Mainz and Keltern II. Ladybaskets Wuerzburg at the other side dropped to the fourth position with four games lost. Wasserburg II's next round opponent will be higher ranked Speyer / Schifferstadt (#6) in Dudenhofen and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Ladybaskets Wuerzburg will play at home against Homburger TG and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
