No shocking result in a game in Vilnius where third ranked Lietuvos rytas (11-4) defeated 5th ranked Juventus (6-9) 98-81 on Saturday. The game without a history. Lietuvos rytas led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Lietuvos rytas shot 27 for 39 from the free-throw line, while Juventus only scored five points from the stripe. They outrebounded Juventus 40-19 including a 16-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great evening for international power forward Arturas Gudaitis (211-93) who led his team to a victory scoring 20 points and 8 rebounds. Nigerian-American point guard Josh-Emmanuel Akognon (180-86, college: CS Fullerton) helped adding 21 points. Four Lietuvos rytas players scored in double figures. Lietuvos rytas' coach Tomas Pacesas used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. The best for the losing side was American point guard Jamar Diggs (188-88, college: Wofford, agency: Octagon Europe) with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 11 assists and guard Vytautas Sulskis (200-88, college: Youngstown St., agency: Octagon Europe) scored 18 points and 7 assists. Lietuvos rytas maintains third place with 11-4 record having just one point less than leader Zalgiris. Loser Juventus dropped to the sixth position with nine games lost. They share it with P.Zvaigzdes. Lietuvos rytas will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Juventus will play against Dzukija (#9) and hope to secure a win.
