Regular Season Round 8: Tavriyska Zirka - Suzirja 61-84

Bottom-ranked Tavriyska Zivka (0-9) is still winless. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their ninth consecutive match to fourth ranked Suzirja (5-4) 84-61 on Saturday evening. The guests trailed by 2 points at the halftime before their 48-23 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Suzirja dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Tavriyska Zivka's 28. Suzirja forced 20 Tavriyska Zivka turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. 27 personal fouls committed by Tavriyska Zivka helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of Daryna Stepaniuk (176-96) who helped to win the game recording 24 points and Liudmila Spyrydonova who added 14 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists during the contest. Forward Svetlana Maliar (180-88) responded with 20 points and 6 rebounds and swingman Kateryna Tykhonova (176-97) scored 9 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Suzirja maintains fourth position with 5-4 record, which they share with Dynamo-NPU. Tavriyska Zivka at the other side still closes the standings with nine games lost. Suzirja is looking forward to face HAI (#7) in Kharkov in the next round. Tavriyska Zivka will play on the road against the league's leader Tim-Scuf in Kyiv and hopes to get finally their first victory.
