The game between 14th ranked Samsun (1-6) and second ranked Galatasaray (6-1) in Samsun on Sunday ended with biggest points difference. Guests from Istanbul beat Samsun 88-76. Galatasaray dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Samsun's 42. Galatasaray forced 20 Samsun turnovers. It was a very good performance for American guard Yvonne Anderson (170-90, college: Texas, agency: Two Points) who helped to win the game recording 18 points and 8 rebounds. Her fellow American import point guard Moriah Jefferson (170-94, college: Connecticut) contributed with 18 points, 6 assists and 4 steals for the winners. Galatasaray's coach Marina Maljkovic used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Montenegrin-American swingman Eshaya Murphy (181-85, college: USC) answered with 19 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists and 7 steals and Mali-French center Naignouma Coulibaly (191-89) added 15 points and 6 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) in the effort for Samsun. Five Galatasaray and four Samsun players scored in double figures. Galatasaray used an opportunity after Fenerbahce lost their game and moved up joining them at the top position. Loser Samsun stay at the bottom place with six games lost. Galatasaray will face Besiktas (#9) in Istanbul in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Samsun will play on the road against Girne Univ. (#13) in Lefkosa and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
