Regular Season Round 10: Fenerbahce - Banvit BK 76-71

Round 10 in BSL means a new league leader. The biggest surprise took place in Istanbul where host Fenerbahce (8-2) beat league's leader Banvit (8-2) 76-71 on Sunday evening. It was a key game for the second position in the league. Fenerbahce made 19-of-25 free shots (76.0 percent) during the game. 25 personal fouls committed by Banvit helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Nigerian power forward Ekpe Udoh (208-87, college: Baylor) fired 14 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Greek guard Konstantinos Sloukas (197-90) chipped in 14 points and 7 assists (made all of his ten free throws !!!). Lithuanian swingman Gediminas Orelik (199-90) produced 22 points and 7 rebounds and the former international guard Can Mutaf (190-91) added 13 points and 6 assists respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Banvit's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Defending champion moved-up to second place, which they share with Besiktas and Banvit BK. Banvit will play next round against strong Besiktas trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Fenerbahce will try to continue on its current victory against twelfth ranked Gaziantep on the road.
