Regular Season Round 12: Craiova - CSU Sibiu 59-78

Very expected game when 9th ranked Craiova (3-8) was crushed at home by third ranked CSU Sibiu (8-3) 78-59. The game was mostly controlled by CSU Sibiu. Craiova was better in second period 11-10. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. 24 personal fouls committed by Craiova helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for American guard Kevin Hardy (188-93, college: McNeese St.) who led his team to a victory with 14 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Serbian point guard Igor Mijajlovic (192-84) contributed with 14 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. Four CSU Sibiu players scored in double figures. American guard Darius Hargrove (195-82, college: Virginia Union) replied with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds and his fellow American import center William Paul (208-88, college: Arkansas Tech) added 16 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Craiova. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. CSU Sibiu have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 8-3 record having just two points less than leader UBT Cluj Napoca. Craiova lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the ninth place with eight games lost. CSU Sibiu's next round opponent will be league's second-placed Steaua CSM in Bucuresti and it will be for sure the game of the week. Craiova will play on the road against Olimpic (#11) in Baia Mare and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
