We should mention about the upset which took place in Istanbul, where higher ranked Galatasaray (7-3) lost to eleventh ranked Istanbul BBSK (4-6) in a road game 61-71 on Monday. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Galatasaray. Istanbul BBSK had a 27-16 advantage in offensive rebounds. American guard Sean Armand (196-91, college: Iona) fired 18 points and 7 assists for the winners. The other American import center Jarvis Varnado (206-88, college: Mississippi St.) chipped in 10 points and 8 rebounds. The former international Goksenin Koksal (195-91) produced 14 points and 9 rebounds and international Sinan Guler (192-83, college: Carroll, MT, agency: 1x1 Sports) added 13 points and 7 assists respectively for lost side. Four Galatasaray players scored in double figures. Galatasaray's coach Ergin Ataman tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Istanbul BBSK moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Trabzonspor and Demir IBB. Loser Galatasaray keeps the fifth position with three games lost. Istanbul BBSK will face Demir IBB (#9) in Buyukcekmece in the next round. Galatasaray will play at home against Yesilgiresun Bld (#8) and hope to win that game.
