Regular Season Round 21: Palanga - Delikatesas 88-84

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 11th ranked Delikatesas (7-14) was defeated on the road by twelfth ranked Palanga (7-12) 88-84 on Friday. The hosts trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 1-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 88-84. Palanga outrebounded Delikatesas 40-26 including 27 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was American point guard Jonathan Hudson (180-87, college: Texas A&M) who scored 42 points (!!!), 5 assists and 4 steals. Forward Aurimas Urbonas (198-93) chipped in a double-double by scoring 12 points, 13 rebounds and 8 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Darius Griskenas (194-84) who recorded 24 points and 8 rebounds and swingman Zilvinas Petraitis (194-88) added 17 points respectively. Five Delikatesas players scored in double figures. Palanga moved-up to eleventh place. Loser Delikatesas dropped to the twelfth position with 14 games lost. Palanga will face league's second-placed Nafta-Uni. in Klaipeda in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Delikatesas will play at home against Silute (#7) and hope to win that game.
