Regular Season Round 13: CSU Sibiu - Steaua CSM 75-76

The most exciting game of round 13 in the Liga Nationala took place in Sibiu. This derby game ended with only one-point home defeat of 3rd placed CSU Sibiu (8-4) to second ranked Steaua CSM (11-1) 76-75 on Friday evening. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of CSU Sibiu. The guests trailed by 3 points after three quarters before their 21-17 charge, which allowed them to win the game. They outrebounded CSU Sibiu 47-31 including a 35-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. American guard Cameron Long (193-88, college: George Mason, agency: Inception Sports) fired 19 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Lithuanian guard Marius Runkauskas (189-86, agency: Octagon Europe) chipped in 21 points and 7 rebounds. The former international forward Bogdan Popescu (200-78, college: Alaska-Fairb.) produced 22 points and American power forward Chris Cooper (205-90, college: ODU) added 13 points and 10 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Steaua CSM have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader. CSU Sibiu at the other side keeps the third place with four games lost. Steaua CSM will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. CSU Sibiu will play on the road against Oradea and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
