Regular Season Round 10: Fortuna - Siauliai-Univ. 67-73

Very significant was Siauliai-Univ.'s (#3, 6-6) victory against 4th ranked Fortuna (5-6) 73-67. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Fortuna won third quarter 20-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Siauliai-Univ. won last quarter 22-18. They also forced 19 Fortuna turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The former international power forward Iveta Salkauske (193-82, college: Illinois) fired a double-double by scoring 29 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. Forward Gabija Segzdaite (184-0) chipped in 22 points and 8 rebounds. The former international guard Andra Andra Gabalyte (179-80, college: Liberty) produced a double-double by scoring 14 points, 14 rebounds and 6 assists and forward Lina Mikeleviciene (182-87) added 17 points and 6 assists respectively for lost side. Siauliai-Univ. maintains third position with 6-6 record having three points less than leader Suduva. Fortuna lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the fifth place with six games lost. Siauliai-Univ. will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Fortuna will play against the league's leader Suduva (#1) and hope to secure a win.
