Regular Season Round 12: Galitos-Barreiro - Lusitania 89-77

Very expected game when 10th ranked Lusitania (3-9) was defeated on the road by third ranked Galitos-Barreiro (10-2) 89-77. It looked good early as Lusitania took a 1-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Galitos-Barreiro had a 26-21 second period charge getting the lead and Lusitania was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 77-89. Galitos-Barreiro players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. It was a good game for Canadian point guard Jarred Ogungbemi-Jackson (178-91) who led his team to a victory with 28 points and 4 assists (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field). American forward Stephen Grosey (201, college: Concordia Irvine) contributed with 14 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Four Galitos-Barreiro players scored in double figures. American center Chris Matagrano (206-90, college: New Hampshire) replied with 24 points and naturalized Angolan forward Antonio Monteiro (204-89) added 19 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Lusitania. Galitos-Barreiro have an impressive six-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with FC Porto. Lusitania at the other side dropped to the ninth place with nine games lost. Galitos-Barreiro's next round opponent will be bottom-ranked Sampaense (#12) in Coimbra which should be an easy win for them. Lusitania will play at home against Vitoria SC and hope to win that game.
